CIVIL SOCIETY AND GOVERNANCE

National meetings

National meetings were held in four of the Territories to:

  • discuss capacity needs with the Board and staff (and where possible members) of the Trusts and any identified partner organisations and how the project can best address these;
  • discuss with a wider group of stakeholders in biodiversity conservation the role civil society should play in biodiversity conservation, what capacities it needs to do so and how these can be enhanced, and what government can do to enhance the enabling environment. Reports of these meetings are available below:

In Cayman Islands, CANARI participated instead in a strategic planning exercise of the Cayman Island National Trust but it is hoped to hold a wider national stakeholder meeting during 2011.
